Jormungand: Perfect Order

00-01

Calling Jormungand: Perfect Order a sequel would not be necessarily accurate. In much the same way as Black Lagoon and Gantz, it is essentially just the second half of the series, but aired after a season’s gap. If you watched the two halves back to back you wouldn’t notice any significant change between the two, aside from a new OP and ED; it instead feels like a natural progression you’d expect in any other series of the same length. As such, this review will be rather short as most everything I mentioned in my review of Jormungand still applies. That said, there are still some key differences and points worth discussing.

Maybe it’s because it’s nearing the end of the season, maybe it’s because I have lots of course work to do, or maybe it’s because each week I don’t really have anything useful or interesting to say, but these posts are beginning to get pretty tedious to write. I’ll see it through until the end of the season, but who knows what after then, really.

So I got my Anime Secret Santa recommendations. Kure-Nai, Natsume Yuujinchou and Paradise Kiss. Not a bad selection imo, been meaning to check the latter two out for a while so it works for me. And they’re all single-cours! Meaning I’ll probably be able to watch all 3 before Christmas.

Kick-Heart reached its funding goal! This is a great thing, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.

In other news, my Yukiko figma arrived, but got hit by customs so I had to pay like another £12 to free her from the evil clutches of the Royal Mail. Grr. Either way, she’s a lovely figure with a great sculpt and better articulation than the Chie figma I already own, although she does her long + hard plastic hair limits the potential movement of her arms a fair bit. But the main problem? Her ‘smiling’ face looks more like she’s being super srs. Ah well.

We should all strive to be this rad in our day to day lives

So I finally got around to backing Kick-Heart (pledged 60 bux to get the Blu-Ray hellz yeah) and I feel pretty good about. But with less than 10 days to go and ~$20K left until it’s funded, it could go either way whether it actually gets made or not. Either way, I’m not putting my money down just for the final product ($60 for a 10 minute short + some merch is a little ridiculous), I’m doing it because this is a fantastic opportunity for international anime fans to actually and directly influence what gets made, to say “this is what we want” and make it happen, to say that we are in fact a marketable demographic and not just a second though to the studios. It helps that the creator and director, Masaaki Yuasa, has an amazing pedigree – Kaiba, Tatami Galaxy, Mind Game and Kemonozume – so this will be interesting regardless. And have you read the synopsis?

So go back Kick-Heart now.

And back to your regularly scheduled “me saying nothing for 1000 words about anime I watched recently”.

The theme for this week: manly tears
