A day late because I was super busy yesterday with a lot of things so completely forgot. You’d think the extra day would give me an opportunity to start the summer season, but due to my incompetence that hasn’t happened! Also no screencaps because I deleted everything because I forgot about this and needed to make room for other stuff ._.

Oh, noitaminA. You haven’t had the best of times recently, have you? 2011 was a pretty rocky year, what with middling series like [C] and NO.6, bad series like Fractale, and atrocious stuff like the first half of Guilty Crown. You didn’t kick off 2012 in a way to inspire confidence either – the second half of Guilty Crown just got worse and worse, and I still have no idea why Black Rock Shooter was in your timeslot (of course this is ignoring Thermae Romae, which was awesome, but at 3 episodes long it was just there to fill in the blanks left by BRS’s crushing lack of ideas). Many had started to call you dead; a mere shadow compared to your former self.

But Springtime is for change and new ideas, and your lineup for the new season looked as if it were set to cast off the awfulness that had been permeating you for just a little too long. The first of these, Sakamichi no Apollon (or Kids on the Slope), set our hopes high. A story of two guys finding friendship through jazz music in 60’s Japan? Music by the legendary Yoko Kanno, and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, who also directed the somewhat acclaimed Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo?

What could go wrong?

You could get caught out in the rain I guess?

Been a surprisingly busy week for me, don’t know how I was able to watch everything! Nothing much to really say, aside from the MASSIVE shock that a single cour of the noitaminAs is more than 11 episodes this season! Has that ever happened before??

As the season is drawing to a close, the various plots reach their climax and are inevitably setting up for the big reveal or last great moment of catharsis. Or they’re just continuing as usual because they’re about high-school girls and therefore don’t really have any plot to speak of.

Also worth mentioning is that, due to football, a bunch of series didn’t air this week. Some of which I don’t really mind all that much, but the biggest loss of all this is no Acchi Kocchi! The greater question raised is: what’s going on in the Japanese football world that’s so great as to replace anime? As far as I’m aware the only major football thing at the moment is the Euro cup, and the last time I checked Japan is not in Europe. Don’t hold me to that though, my geography ain’t that great. Maybe they care about the sport enough in general that any major tournament, no matter whether they’re involved or not, takes priority on TV. Or maybe they have their own thing going on at the same time. I don’t know, I don’t ‘do’ football.

I caught up! It took me basically the entire week, what with all those distractions and responsibilities. So I’ve got like 4 weeks of episodes to discuss right now. Fun!

Because processr has gone on hiatus due to exams and we go to the same university, I expect you’re expecting me to do so as well, right? WRONG. See, I don’t suck, therefore you’re going to get this worthless weekly commentary no matter what. Priorities, innit.

…I should seriously be studying for my AI exam right now.

I feel bad for any show that isn’t Sakamichi no Apollon because holy BALLS did it blow everything out of the water this week. And that’s even when you consider that a lot of the shows I’m watching had really strong episodes AND Sakamichi finally had to start competing with AKB004pffffahahaha I can’t even finish that sentence with a straight face.

A lot of good episodes this week – many series that were disappointing last week had much better ones this week. Alas, with everything being 2-3 episodes in, the animation quality is starting to take a hit. Although that may just be Hyouka making everything else look like trash.
