Did you like the first season of Wooser? Then you’ll like this one!

Really, there isn’t much more to say about this – it’s basically more of the same, although it is a bit better. The referential humour uses much more recent series this time around, the jokes are generally a fair bit funnier, there’s greater characterisation (how there’s any characterisation is beyond me, mind you), and it overall feels like a more focused and polished little product. Everything in my review of the first series still very much applies, but they’ve definitely refined the concept since then.

You want a short little series about a gluttonous, lecherous bunny thing that’s actually pretty funny? Wooser is for you, and now there’s more of it to watch. Can’t really complain about that.

P.S. God DAMN the ED is the best fucking thing ever and completely and utterly justifies the existence of this sequel even if it were the case that nothing else does.

So what happens when you take a cute and cuddly mascot character, and give him a corrupt, selfish and lecherous heart? And also have him voiced by Light from Death Note? Hilarity happens.

Also, Wooser.

But yeah, Wooser no Sono Higurashi is a pretty funny series of 3 minute long CG animated shorts. Most of the humour is either parodic (and therefore hit-and-miss if you aren’t familiar with the original franchise) or focused on how unpleasant a being the eponymous Wooser is. But it’s also a vehicle for Mamoru Miyano to really ham it up with his voice acting, and a fair bit of the entertainment comes out of this.

This series is also one of the best examples of wholly CG animation out there – given the styles of the character designs and everything, having everything in CG really does work out for it.

Given the fact that combined running time of the entire show is less than an hour, and how there are definitely a fair few good, solid laughs to be had out of this, it’s pretty easy to recommend Wooser no Sono Higurashi if you have nothing better to watch.

So this should have been done a day or two ago but whatever, I was busy. Everything’s coming to an end though, and the next season ain’t that promising. A shame, I guess. Oh, and a bunch of subs were delayed.

Maybe it’s because it’s nearing the end of the season, maybe it’s because I have lots of course work to do, or maybe it’s because each week I don’t really have anything useful or interesting to say, but these posts are beginning to get pretty tedious to write. I’ll see it through until the end of the season, but who knows what after then, really.

So I got my Anime Secret Santa recommendations. Kure-Nai, Natsume Yuujinchou and Paradise Kiss. Not a bad selection imo, been meaning to check the latter two out for a while so it works for me. And they’re all single-cours! Meaning I’ll probably be able to watch all 3 before Christmas.

Kick-Heart reached its funding goal! This is a great thing, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.

In other news, my Yukiko figma arrived, but got hit by customs so I had to pay like another £12 to free her from the evil clutches of the Royal Mail. Grr. Either way, she’s a lovely figure with a great sculpt and better articulation than the Chie figma I already own, although she does her long + hard plastic hair limits the potential movement of her arms a fair bit. But the main problem? Her ‘smiling’ face looks more like she’s being super srs. Ah well.

We should all strive to be this rad in our day to day lives
